Bright, deep ruby-red. Musty, weedy aromas of chocolate and eucalyptus, with a suggestion of TCA that is not from the cork . Cedary, dusty and dry in the mouth; has some fruit but it hard to get past the offputting nose.

November 2007: Excellent wine! I let it breath for about 1.5 hours after decanting it. Very little residue in the bottle. I have two more left, which I will probably wait at least another 5 years to try.

Perhaps this wine is in what I've heard called a "dumb stage". It certainly did not have the bouquet I would expect, nor did it have the depth/layers of flavor it should have. I tasted this after a bottle of the 1982 Martha's, which was exquisite, but this bottle was more than outclassed. Still a good bottle of wine, just not up to this vineyard's standards right now. It still however, has tannins left to allow the other bottles of the vintage to sit, and hopefully they will come out the other side of this closed period.
