Laid-back, rather complex aromas of black raspberry, maple syrup and golden raisins seem midway between ruby and tawny. Smooth, nicely concentrated and rich; the maple syrup note repeats in the mouth but is complemented by fresh berry flavors. Finishes slightly fiery but long, with a suggestion of raisin.

Cold winter days, a good book and the rich warmth of a fine ruby port.......

For someone new to the pleasures of a Ruby Port or a well versed traveler in the world of wines; Cockburns Fine Ruby Port has a richness of subtle flavors married to tantalize the palate. Well balanced blending of dark sweet cherry, vanilla and the smoothing taste of oak casting with a hint of blackberry make this a fine choice for an apertif or a dessert/after dinner cordial. The pleasure lingers on your tongue reminding of all the things you love about spring and summer. After you have read all the reviews; do yourself a favor and try it for yourself...you won't be disappointed.

Recently sampled Cockburn Ruby at the ever popular Caffe Dolce, Suffern, NY monthly wine tasting event. Notes included lots of fruit, sweetness and balanced. Finish was splendid for a Port in this price range. This would be a great starter in the winter, especially apres'ski. Traditionally served with dessert or cheese after a meal.

Is the the perfect word to describe this port. Color and taste can't be beat for the price.

About Portugal

For most American wine lovers Portuguese wine means Port, the rich fortified Portugal wine made in the hot, dry Douro Valley in the northern part of the country. But the past decade has witnessed a greater flow of high-quality table wines, mostly red, into the U.S. market.
