93 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January/February 2002

($75; 100% sangiovese) Medium garnet. Tobacco, truffle and earthy scents predominate on the complex nose, along with notes of plum and vanilla that reverberate on the palate. Densely textured and sweet, framed by glossy tannins. A wine of lovely balance and persistence, with sweet pipe tobacco accentuating the silky finish.
