Saturated ruby-red. Rather cool, primary aromas of red cherry, currant, tobacco, leather and coffee. Strong on the attack, then supple and fairly dense in the middle palate. Rather stylish for a wine from this producer. Finishes with notes of pepper and spice. Ferraton bottled this wine quickly so that the fruit wouldn't dry out. Bottle aging should bring more complexity.

While the grape is currently grown throughout the world, the most elegant Syrahs still come from the Northern Rhone valley, particularly the appellations of Côte Rôtie, Cornas, and Hermitage. Here, steep, terraced vineyards help produce full-bodied, intense, tannic wines loaded with white pepper and red fruit.
