About Chateau Palmer
A Third Growth in name alone, Chateau Palmer contends with Chateau Margaux for "best of the appellation" status. These wines are intensely perfumed, impeccably balanced, and undeniably mellow, but they also show plenty of underlying muscle for aging. The wine is generally made with a higher than average contribution from Merlot (up to 40%). The estate's vineyards sit on 52 hectares distinguished by crops of gravelly stone. There's also an excellent second wine here, called Alter Ego de Palmer.
