Alexander Valley. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Merlot; 5% Malbec; 4% Petit Verdot; 2% Cabernet Franc. Here is a wine with the elevated oak expected of its "reserve" designation, but that oak is always a step ahead of its comparatively light appointment of fruit. Fairly firm, slightly narrow and close to angular in feel, this one is closed out by acid-buttressed tannin and requires a bit more depth and richness for comfortable recommendation here.
