92(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - September/October 2000

Bright ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of blackcurrant, tar, exotic fruits, roasted nuts and cedar. Supple, juicy flavors of dried red fruits are given clarity by vibrant, ripe acidity. Very elegantly styled but also boasts terrific grip. Finishes with firm but suave tannins and impressive length.

This wine rocks!
by dklamen
Exquisite wine! Big, bold, and not for the faint of heart! Lots of tannin and oak, balanced by smoky flavors and ruby red fruits. The wine itself is a gorgeous ruby red in color. Highly recommended!
Shows the ambition of a wine maker that "it can be done"

TN Alvaro Palacios, Finca Dofi, Priorato, Spain, 1998: Bright purple, very dense tears. Nose bit oaky, dark fruit, start bit brooding then pleasant evolving. Medium to plump body, spiky dark and red fruit, spicy oak. Aftertaste bit coriander, medium long. Score: 50 + 5 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 91
