Full red. Currant, menthol, marzipan and dried herbs on the nose. Silky on entry, then a bit green in the middle palate, with celery and pepper notes plus a whiff of maderization. Perhaps not a representative bottle: the team agreed that recent bottles of this vintage have been fresher and deeper, although long-time winemaker Bob Levy noted that this wine has always been viewed as a rather soft example of Harlan Estate, and that it's entirely possible future bottles will resemble this one.
