About Domaine Weinbach
Domaine Weinbach was established in 1610 by the Capuchin monks who also gave their name to the domaine's most prized vineyard, Clos des Capucins. The estate itself got the name Weinbach--which literally translates to "wine brook"--from a little stream that trickles through the property.
1998 Domaine Weinbach Riesling Schlossberg Selection de Grains Nobles (half bottle)
Producer: Domaine Weinbach
Style: Sweet Wine
Grape Type: Riesling
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
96 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 1999
Pure, complex nose combines lemon, quinine, minerals, licorice and peppermint, plus a hint of crystallized apricot. Fat, dense and honeyed, with extraordinary baby fat leavened by penetrating minerality. Very strong acids give the wine an almost miraculous freshness for a wine of this size.
