91(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2003

($50) Good red-ruby color. Ripe aromas of plum, currant, maple syrup and cedar, with a hint of raisin. Juicy, penetrating and impressively structured, with a mineral pungency enlivening the roasted, slightly decadent flavors and giving the wine grip. Lovely sweetness reminiscent of mature claret, and buffered by strong acidity. Finishes firm and tannic, with lingering sweetness and serious spine. This will be long-lived.
