Reddish-tawny color. Slightly roasted aromas of bonfire, toffee and almond; slight hint of maderization. Sweet and smooth, but rather powerful, with youthful red berry flavor and a bit of heat. Smoke and nutskin on the lingering finish.

I liked this Fonseca very much. Strong almond hints and overall a very pleasant port.

Strange how the firms that make the best Vintage (Taylor, Fonseca) make a mediocre tawny. Not worth bothering with. Try Cockburn or Dow instead, or Niepoort if you can find it.
