Wonderful surprise! Mellowing nicely. Wonderful scent, easy drinking and generally a true delight. Good color and clarity. Watch the cork -- ours was a little crumbly.

Having not drunk the wine for several years I was stunned by the amount of primary fruit still present. And the fruit wasn't fleeting either. It kept building for a good hour and then leveled off for the rest of the evening. I saved a third of the bottle for the next day, and while the rich plummy fruit had dissipated the full fall-like aromas of decayed leaves, loam, and tea were present. This was a remarkable bottle of wine.

This wine, which was hard as a rock in the mid-80's is still incredibly youthful. The flavors here are more Rhone-like than Burgundian, with aromas of tobacco and cassis. Deep ruby color, rich and firm...this wine just doesn't want to age.
