GREAT SPARKLING VOUVRAY!

by Chester Malloy
This is a lighter bodied, less intense offering from this great producer. It is dry, with nice fruit. Great as an aperitif.
Most Interesting Release Yet

I'm not entirely sure why Prince Philippe made this wine. A very difficult vintage, and he took every risk you can take in winemaking to bottle this unusual Vouvray. Completely "natural" - you must keep this wine cool if you intend to store it for any length of time. This you want to drink with something that has some fat to it - sausages, pate, and ripe, ripe cheeses. It's wonderful but very "vibrant".
Lean and adventurous

Pale straw with burnished gold rim. Petillant, lean, yeasty aromas of minerals and red apples. Textured acidity, medium to long finsh. Great aperetif wine, lovely with Loire Valley goat cheeses.
Made for food

This wine embodies all the classic attributes of the Loire: bracing acidity, mineraloid trang, and balancing residual sugar. It's made to go with food and couldn't have been finer when served with its predestined mate, Loire chevre. Half a pound of Loire goat cheese and a bottle of this wine: who knew so much pleasure could be had for twenty bucks?

Good Summer Sparkler

In the style of other southern sparkling wines, this one has the freshness, and life, that makes for a refreshing summer aperatif. This comes very close to one of my favorites, found in the St. Saturnin Cooperative (Herault Valley, Languedoc)

Sort of yeasty and funky. Very mild bubbles. Nice if you like slightly funky, "interesting" wines.
