About Schramsberg Vineyards

After reviving this historic estate outside Calistoga in the 1960s, the Davies family became California's first important producer of sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They produce a range of styles, from a dry, minerally Blanc de Blancs to a Blanc de Noirs that's surprisingly lively and refined for this style (it includes some Chardonnay.) J. Schram is the house's prestige bottling—potentially the best sparkling wine made in California.

From Mount St. Helena to the city of Napa, the valley is defined by two north-south ridgelines of the Coast Range Mountains.

Pinot Noir

Adored by critics, prized by collectors, Pinot Noir is one of most tantalizing yet temperamental varietals in the world. For many wine enthusiasts, this is part of the appeal of Pinot -- it doesn't reveal its charms easily. Pinot Noir's virtue also stems from the unique characteristics of the grape.
