About Domaine de Chevalier

87 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - February 2013

(65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 5% cabernet franc; 12.3% alcohol):  Medium red with an amber rim.  Direct nose hints at Oriental spices, orange rind and dried redcurrant.  Fruitier on entry, then tightens up in the middle, showing only modest concentration to its red fruit and spicy citrus jam flavors.  Slightly astringent tannins coat the palate on the moderately persistent finish, which betrays a vegetal note that I found intrusive.  I'd drink this fruit-challenged wine soon.
