1997 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Gary Cowan's Rating:
Tasting Date: 05/06/2008; Location: Perbacco Restaurant, San Francisco
Give this wine a couple of hours to breathe after a vigorous decanting. It will not disappoint. Elegant, complex aromatics and a long finish that you never tire of, this is what great Nebbiolo is all about. Outstanding.

1989 Chateau Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion

Gary Cowan's Rating:
Tasting Date: 04/23/2008; Location: Home at dinner
Another wine that is in its prime drinking zone at the moment. An elegant Cheval Blanc with complex aromatics and flavors. Paired beautifully with a roasted free range chicken.

2001 Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes

Gary Cowan's Rating:
Tasting Date: 09/22/2008; Location: Private Tasting
The 1959 vintage of Suduiraut was one of my top wines of 2007. The 2001 will make a worthy successor. It is still an infant, just beginning to shed its baby fat. But for lovers of sauternes this vintage is not to be missed.

2006 Chateau de Pampelonne Rose Cotes de Provence

Gary Cowan's Rating:
This was the best rose of the year and I tasted my way through many of them. I was even lucky enough to taste it at the source in October in France.

1988 Salon Blanc de Blanc Le Mesnil (From Private Cellar)

Gary Cowan's Rating:
Tasting Date: 10/18/2008; Location: Home at dinner
Drinking a Salon before it is at least 15-20 years old is a crime. The 1988 vintage of Salon is entering its prime and will not disappoint. The finish goes on and on. What great Champagne is all about. It will pair wi... more

2006 Morlet Family Vineyards La Proportion Doree Sonoma County

Gary Cowan's Rating:
Tasting Date: 02/22/2008; Location: At the source and and home numerous times
Flat out the best white wine of the year that wasn't Chardonnay. It has continued to develop in the bottle since I first tried it in February. There should be more wines like this being made in California.
Average cost for wines on this list: $175.51
