Best Wines Tasted in 2008
A wine list by
Gary Cowan, Manager Fine Wines Internation & National Sales Director Vineyard 7 & 8
This year I was fortunate to taste and experience more than my fair share of great wines. What follows is my highly selective list of the best wines tasted this past year.

Give this wine a couple of hours to breathe after a vigorous decanting. It will not disappoint. Elegant, complex aromatics and a long finish that you never tire of, this is what great Nebbiolo is all about. Outstanding.

Another wine that is in its prime drinking zone at the moment. An elegant Cheval Blanc with complex aromatics and flavors. Paired beautifully with a roasted free range chicken.

The 1959 vintage of Suduiraut was one of my top wines of 2007. The 2001 will make a worthy successor. It is still an infant, just beginning to shed its baby fat. But for lovers of sauternes this vintage is not to be missed.

This was the best rose of the year and I tasted my way through many of them. I was even lucky enough to taste it at the source in October in France.

Flat out the best white wine of the year that wasn't Chardonnay. It has continued to develop in the bottle since I first tried it in February. There should be more wines like this being made in California.
Average cost for wines on this list: $175.51
