It’s no mystery why the Trentadue “Old Patch Red” is, year in and year out, one of our most popular and anticipated offers. At $12.50 per bottle equivalent, few wines boast the quality, richness, and outright deliciousness as Zin master Miro Tcholakov’s super-generous Old Patch. His 2016 Lot # 44 red blend, dominated by perfectly-ripened Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, delivers dark and intense cherry, blueberry, and cola aromas, and a short decant will bring out warm vanilla and toasty notes. Just try and open one bottle of this irresistible red — we guarantee you’ll be deep into bottle two before the main course. The only regret we have to share is that because of high demand — strict limit of one case per member. 150 cases. Not a drop more.

When rents soared in Silicon Valley, Leo Trentadue moved his family to Sonoma and settled on the 208-acre spread of Andrew Bouton, a pioneering botanist who had introduced acres of Zinfandel and Carignane in 1868. Over the years, Bouton’s historic planting had come to be known as “Old Patch,” and the Trentadues’ acquisition of this property — one that has consistently dazzled Robert Parker, Jr. — has proven to be one of the most fateful in Alexander Valley history.

Old Patch Red was named for Bouton’s original late-1800s plantings, and though the Trentadues left their apple, prune, and pear orchards for Sonoma Valley, Wine Access clients are thrilled they found their footing in grape growing and winemaking. If you don’t know what all the fuss is about, today is your lucky day.
