New Zealand’s Incredible Under-$30 Sauv Blanc

Our fans of racy, crisp white wines look forward to Tinpot Hut Day all year long—which is why we’re happy to risk a crashed server (the first offer was a close call!) in order to bring this exuberant and over-delivering white wine back!

Tinpot Hut is a gregarious wine that bursts with exotic citrus, pineapple, ruby red grapefruit, and guava, all with bright acidity and off-the-charts verve that will keep you reaching for sip after sip. It’s no wonder that the first allocation sold out almost instantly, and the happy buyers who said they “rarely encounter such intensity, length and complexity” in Sauvignon Blanc are ready for more.

Wine Access members have piled on five-star scores and praise for winemaker Fiona Turner’s lemongrass-scented value white, and even chef Jamie Oliver has said, “Love your wine, always have some in the cellar.” At Wine Access HQ, Tinpot Hut is constantly appearing in our tasting lineups, as a shining exemplar of the New Zealand terroir that makes Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc one of the best white wine values in the world.

Over the years, Fiona Turner has established her Home Block Vineyard in the Blind River subregion of Marlborough as one of the country’s top sources of Sauvignon Blanc. Yet for all of the accolades, the wine is made for unpretentious enjoyment—on any budget.

In Decanter, Master of Wine Rebecca Gibb lauded the 2018 Tinpot Hut’s “rich, aromatic and supple style redolent of tropical fruits ranging from pineapple to passionfruit,” all of it cut through with energizing acidity. We adore its guava, pineapple, and lime zest notes, lifted by exotic hints of lemongrass. In essence, Tinpot Hut fuses freshness with clean, zippy minerality in a white wine that shines at the dinner table and is fantastic on its own.

With Turner at the helm, Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc has more than earned its reputation as a critical and Wine Access favorite. Don’t miss it, because it won’t last long.
