About Castellare di Castellina
The product of five farms joined together, Castellare di Castellina lies near the village of Castellare in the heart of Chianti Classico. Formed in 1968, Castellare covers 80 hectares, 33 of which are planted to a mix of Italian and Bordeaux varieties, namely Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Cabernet. The Chianti here is traditional, and high-acid, while top Super Tuscan, I Sodi di San Niccolo eschews foreign varieties in favor of the classic Sangiovese-Malvasia Nera mix. Total production may reach 250,000 bottles in an excellent year, plus the high quality olive oil harvested from 15 hectares of olive trees.
