Founded in the early 1700s, Lisini's sprawling estate is ringed by some of the most rustic terrain in Tuscany; vineyards alternate with rolling, forested hillsides, and wild boars, pheasants, hedgehogs and deer are seen frequently. Filippo Paoletti handles the everyday winemaking activities here, helping the estate produce a consistently solid, traditional Brunello, made from the estate's oldest vines, some of which have reached 70. The Ugolaia bottling, with fruit off a high-density vineyard behind the main buildings of the estate, is frequently one of the top ten wines of Montalcino.
