(tasted blind on 11/03/06)) Opaque colour. Pronounced and complex nose of black cherry, leather and spice. Tremendous burst of concentrated black fruit on the front palate, followed by a creamy, expansive mid-palate. The massive fruit body is balanced by crisp acidity and ripe tannins. Fantastic length with no rough edges. A little atypical of CDPs.It needs another 4-6 years to get to its peak, but it is so irresistable now! A perfect score. The winning Chateauneuf du Pape in this tasting - against Rayas '95, Pegau da Capo '98, Usseglio Cinquantenaire '99 and Domaine Caillou Reserve 2000.
