Big aromas of black rasberry black cherry light flowers,it has nice powerful fruit very delicious. The balance that is harmonious very generous tannins that are very nice. The wine has a long finish that is complex. The wine needs to be decanted at least 1 to 2 hours to get the richness out of the wine its a MUST.This wine really IMPROVED over the 2 years other people reviewed this excellent wine.2004 was not a great year for St.Julien wine, but you got to take your hat off to Anthony Barton,Exellent for 2004.Wine sheet score 94.2 with 2 or 3 more years cellaring it could be a 95 or 96.
Not as good as 2003, yet. However, it needs to sit. I'm giving it at least five years and will try it again. I bought a case and am glad I did. It could be very under rated coming between 2003 and 2005. The potential seems to be there. Time will tell. The upside is I have never gone wrong with Leoville Barton.
