This slightly nutty, citrusy chardonnay is a real winner! This is one of the best Chardonnays I've had since the '99 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cold Creek Vineyards. I dare say that the 91 rating Wine Spectator gave this was a bit low; it deserves at least a 92. The Franciscan Oakville Cuvee Sauvage is at least as good as the Beringer Sbragia Limited Release, and costs approximately $10 less...
An incredible white that drinks like a red!
Rich, creamy, densely concentrated and given some time out of the bottle opens up nicely, plus we found that it took us longer to drink a bottle -like a good red you savour each mouthful. My only quibble is that I would prefer just a little less oak (or more acidity).
