WOW - great everyday wine for a great price
I have never been disappointed with any Running With Scissors wine. Well balanced wine great for any occasion.
The 2003 was a great value at $10. The tannins are round, finish is smooth, and there's abundant cherry and blackberry on the palate. It's a good wine to serve at parties because of price, versatility, and drinkability.
We thought this was very smooth - you really catch the current and cinnamon. Great with heavier meats and enjoyable at cocktail hour.
This is a fairly decent Cabernet for under $10.00. This cab has a deep garnet in color with a nose of annise and currant. It is full bodied with medium tannins, a black cherry and currant flavor and a smooth long finish. For more reviews please visit www.drivebycritic.com.
Full bodied red, great value
Great wine under $10. Better than many higher priced wine. We can't all drink double digit wines everyday, this is one under 10 that can be very satisfying.
Last minute purchase a sales associate overheard us discussing. They immediately recommended it as they had stumbled upon it themselves. A steal for $10. Perfect for any gathering or wine gift. Very smooth. We will turn others onto this fun label.
Very nice aroma and basic Cab flavor profile with good tannins but the finish on my 2004 was very acid with harsh alcohol. Drink with fatty foods to cut the burn.
this is drinkable, but not exceptional
Pleasant party and casual dinner sipper. Will offend no one. Not terribly deep or complex. See Big Daddy's 2003 review below for tasting details. Limited recommendation.
I bought this wine because the store advertisement indicated that fans of Rodney Strong should try it. Since I am a Rodney fan, I thought I would give it a go. RWS definitely does not compare to Rodney Strong. Rodney has a much fuller body, much better taste, with a great finish. For me, Running WIth Scissors is drinkable, but a little bitter.
Bought both the RWS and Anakena 2007 last week. Opened the RWS tonight and after a few sips found it to be thin and somewhat bitter. Corked it to see if time will help. Opened the Anakena, more reasonably priced and a year younger. Found it to be much more interesting, fairly smooth with a nice finish. I would give Anakena 3.5 stars. So, if I was looking for an inexpensive carbernet, Anakena wins.
This wine is OK, but, for an extra buck you are into Rodney Strong, Ch. Ste. Michelle or Clos Du Bois. Are you worth it?
I've had better, but I've had worse. I'll probably finish the bottle though :)
Just had a glass from a 2009. Totally shocked at how weak the wine was. Barely a step up from tap water. I've had box wine with more punch. Complete waste of $$. Maybe just a bad bottle but this one was definitely not worth the effort.
I just thought this was a bit hard and after a while, the spice was too much for me.
