well balanced, good nose, excellent finish
We opened this bottle in Las Vegas at Legends paired with New York cut and Lobster tail. We finished the Bottle next to the pool with an Ashton ESG. Both proved to be GREAT pairings. This wine presented with a deep ruby color. This is a young wine (2005) so I was not concerned with bricking or spoil. The aromas of floral and currant were pronounced and inquiring. There were complicated flavors of black cherry, oak, smoke and a resident dark chocolate in the background. Although the tannins were slightly high, the intensity of the flavors suggests this wine was opened a couple years too soon. This proved to be a semi-sweet, medium bodied, structured wine with a delightfully solid and long finish. This is a respectable, enjoyable second growth Margaux that should be enjoyed after 2011.
