Just about perfect. Great balance of fruit and acidity. Tried the rest and it's still the best - even with the rather unwelcome screw top. However, the screw top does seem to have made Cloudy Bay less likely to be "out of stock" so maybe I'll keep quiet about it!
Hint of apple with citrus overtones. For my taste, just the right balance of acidity and a long peppery finish. A very refreshing, drinkable wine that paired well with whole trout prepared with a Mexican touch.
Reminiscent of gooseberries, lychees and other tropical fruits, the intense flavors of this exuberant wine are backed up with bracing acidity. Try it with a little mexican food, quite a nice match.
I try other New Zealand sauv blancs, but always come back to Cloudy Bay. Paretai comes close but never matches the Cloudy Bay in terms of complexity and length of finish.
