About Stolpman Vineyards
Stolpman Vineyards Facts
Tom and Marilyn Stolpman founded this Central Coast winery in 1990. The dry-farmed vineyard plantings here are one of the great viticultural stories of California. Ideally situated on the steep hillsides of Ballard Canyon, cooled by the Arctic air that flows from Alaska to Point Conception, this is a perfect spot; vines are irrigated for the first five years of their lives, but after that they are left to fend for themselves, bringing about a natural reduction in yields and an increase in grape concentration.
Varietals Produced at Stolpman Vineyards
Winemaker Sashi Moorman works magic with the estate-grown Rhone varietals (Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne and Viognier). But it's not just Rhone fruit here: Stolpman is also the source of excellent Sauvignon Blanc and some of the better Sangiovese we've had from California.
