Ribbon Ridge is the most perfectly made and consistently great crowd pleaser in my cellar. I bring two bottles to special occassions or dinners and love to see everyone drool and ask how I got it. So rich with extremely dark ripe fruit that you melt when you sip a glass. The long you hold, warm swirl the better it gets. If there was one "obtainable" in my cellar to recommend it is always RR (the logo is way too cool to forget too)
One of the best Oregon Pinot Noirs we've ever tasted. As good as Pinots costing 50% - 75% more. Gets even better with age, but it's hard not to drink it now!
I was really surprised at ow elegant his wine was with only a few days to settle. Love it!
Now that I purchased more of this wine (based on the vintage and my general enjoyment of Oregon Pinot Noir), I decided to try a bottle. Not much happening upon opening, but over the course of dinner and with some swirling, it opened up somewhat. I will decant next time. I get the cherry, spiciness and a slight tartness, but there was a persistent hint of cranberry in there too. Given that, it could prove to be the perfect Thanksgiving wine! I consider this to be a unique PN compared to other offerings for this vintage and from that region. However, it is delicious and smooth and I found myself pouring more than usual. I can see the elements are present for coming together even more in the future, which is why I purchased another six bottles. I eagerly await this wine's development over the years to come and the distinct possibility of a higher rating. Postscript: Finished the bottle three nights later, refrigerated and not gassed. It was even better, clearly having come into its own. Full flavored without being heavy, velvety, earthy, and just plain delicious. Very pleased with my purchases.
average at best, very overpriced
