This wine is a delight and a pleasure that takes patience to allow to open up to it's full content and opulence.
Decanted with the Centellino. Color was very dark reddish purple. Body was well developed, especially considering the vintage, nearly to the edge. Soft boysenberry with mild astringency, little damp earth, and faint spring violets on the nose. In mouth, under-ripe black tree fruit and boysenberry, little white pepper, mildly herbaceous – possibly tarragon. The conclusion was where the wine showed youth. Alcohol was still present though approachable tannins were well integrated in a long finish that was pleasant with some dull, micaceous clay minerality. Wine continued to open up all night, mellowing. Went very well with food, across a broad range, but certainly needs another 2-3 years to compose itself to be drunk standalone. 84/C+ = 50/5/7/7/6/9
