This wine was no surprise. Matt Cline's wines are consistently the best values around, and this was no exception. Big, fruity, complex, and delicious. I bought a lot of it. I have followed his wines, and him, for about 30 years, and have never been disappointed.
I recently opened a bottle of Chateau Clinet 1990 that retails for over $400 a bottle (it was a gift from someone who may not have known its value). This wine, which cost $14.99, was better. I lack the vocabulary to characterize it. Some years ago I had a Clos Vougeot. Again, I think this wine is superior. I only wish I owned more than one case.
Well blended, complex and smooth. Matt has created another masterpiece here!!
I previously rated this wine a "4" based on value. But I pulled a bottle out of the cellar after two years and its hard to describe how much better this wine got in that time. Amazing depth and structure along with a velvety mouth feel. What a bargain at $15!!!
Tried some early on and ok not really that impressed, but just seemed young. After 4 years finally tried another bottle. That 4 year wait was so worth it.
At once huge and elegant. Paired with food like a very, very good Chianti Classico Riserva or Rioja. Got a case, which I burned through in a couple weeks. Wish I had ordered two cases.
A really good red wine and an outstanding value. I've enjoyed everything I have had from Matt and the Three Wine Company!
Let this wine breathe for about 30 minutes and you'll be well satisfied...
If you like old vine wine, this can't be beat at this price, enjoy
I wrote a bad review of this wine the other day based on the first bottle I opened. It was not good and I put the rest of the case in the garage.... But after writing the review I also read several of the positive reviews. Didn't even sound like the same wine. So I decided to try another bottle. Decanted it and let it breathe a while to give it a fair shake. And I have to say it was really good.. more like 3 1/2 stars and very nice for the price point. The first bottle must have been spoiled in some way... air got to it, I expect, since I let it sit overnight and it was no better the second day... worse actually. Wanted to clarify that I now believe I got a very good value with my case purchase and have moved it back into my wine storage. The second bottle was nice and dry and relatively complex for even a $25 wine. Nice fruit but not over sweet.
good nose, good fruit and a medium long finish. Good enough to fool most folks into seeing a very expensive wine.
We are delighted with this wine. We bought it to be an "everyday wine" for groups of friends. We wanted a nice wine we could serve freely without going broke and this exceeds expectations.
Tightly wound and bitter at first opening. Needed 30+ minutes to start to open up. This reminds me of Vacqueryras but with more acidity. Shows wonderful dark and earthy flavors but the fruit is muted at this point. Needs a year or two to develop but the potential is there.
This wine did not dissapoint, it has plenty of fruit, and has started to have layers of complexity.
This is the second year in a row that I have ordered this wine. It has a great finish and a spiced Oak smoothness that you would have thought cost considerably more. Unbeatable at this price.
Nice everyday drinker. Popped and poured, and it pretty much lived up to the wineaccess hype. Glad I went for a case.
This wine is so smooth, like velvet with a a long cherry finish....I drove home from my gf's after having a glass with dinner at her place...home, 10 min later I can still taste the cherries on the finish. Classy, well made wine...I need to get more!
It's young now, though I didn't air it at all. Aromas are all oak and mocha at the moment, but the tanic structure buttresses the rich, piercing acidity as I drink it. delicious.
Just didn't have the balance or taste for it's pricepoint.
