W-O-W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I first had this wine back in France while sitting on the steps of my favorite bordello in the 6th on rue Vavin in Paris. This is truly one of the, if not the best value in Champagne. The wine is crisp, brioche like aromas in the nose reminds me of my childhood growing up next to the neighborhood baker. A wine of this quality under $ 30 dollars deserves a three case order as a starter. After drinking a btl of Pol Roger I understand why Churchill fought so hard to liberate France. He did it for his Pol Rooger!!!!!!

Good POP for the buck

Wife likes Veuve, I like Bolly. This bubbly makes us both happy, fitting somewhere in between the two. And for about 30 bucks American, it's great. And no, it isn't Grand Sendree ($65) but Grand Sendree isn't Cristal (many bucks). Guess I miss the significance of that comparison.

Memories

I remember a New Years Eve when I wandered around the Champs du Mars between the Ecole Militaire and the Eiffel Tower at Midnight in my tuxedo...drinking a bottle of Pol Roger...it was a dream and I was in it! I remember that night every time I pop the cork on another bottle!

THIS IS CLASS AND ELEGANCE

SO MANY OF US HAVE GOTTEN IN THE WHITE STAR AND VEUVE RUT THAT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT A WONDERFUL CHAMPAGNE SHOULD TASTE LIKE. CRISP CLEAN DAINTY AND ELEGANT, NOT FAT, FULL AND DEEP. IT IS ABOUT CLASS NOT ABOUT NAME DROPPING

Ditto....

I would rather Drappier Grand Sendree which was rated WS-90, or the Vueve Cliqcuot rated WS-88(yellow label) or the Vueve Cliqcuot Rose , rated WS-92,thus a bit more expensive. I think many people are incredible label buyers when it comes to Champagne. Often the less talked about labels can be incredible hidden treasures at lower prices!

not in the same ballpark.....

Given my obsession with the 1990 Pol Roger Brut Chardonnay, I thought I would love this. I did not. It was too sweet and lacked structure and complexity. Bollinger Special Cuvee, Pommery, Veuve Cliquot (yellow label) and Roderer (N.V.) are all much better. So are some American sparkling wines.
