Having not drunk the wine for several years I was stunned by the amount of primary fruit still present. And the fruit wasn't fleeting either. It kept building for a good hour and then leveled off for the rest of the evening. I saved a third of the bottle for the next day, and while the rich plummy fruit had dissipated the full fall-like aromas of decayed leaves, loam, and tea were present. This was a remarkable bottle of wine.
Wonderful surprise! Mellowing nicely. Wonderful scent, easy drinking and generally a true delight. Good color and clarity. Watch the cork -- ours was a little crumbly. Hunter Peck
This wine, which was hard as a rock in the mid-80's is still incredibly youthful. The flavors here are more Rhone-like than Burgundian, with aromas of tobacco and cassis. Deep ruby color, rich and firm...this wine just doesn't want to age.
Amazing color, still youthful in appearance, aromas of mushrooms, black tea, smoke and macerated plum-cherries fruit. Medium bodied with textured mouthfeel, quite balanced, with a long finish. Delicious example of aged Burgundy.
The blindfold test convinced me she was underage and that I could get arrested. But, it turned out to be the perfect date and she confessed to being 24.
