 Stefanie Weegmüller's tasting room seems to be an unofficial meeting place for German wine insiders. Hans-Günter Schwarz, until recently the General Manager and winemaker at Weingut Müller-Catoir, who is a friend and mentor to Stefanie, is a regular (Müller-Catoir is right next door to Weegmüller). Stuart Pigott, author of Life Beyond Liebfraumilch, and The Wine Atlas of Germany, who is widely regarded to be the world's foremost authority on German wine, is a family friend. "Stefi's" husband Richard Scherr farms parcels in the best vineyards in the Mittelhaardt, including the Eselshaut in Mussbach, and the Herrenletten, Bürgergarten, and Manderling in Haardt. |
