Helping Rebuild Signorello One Bottle at a Time
Helping Rebuild Signorello One Bottle at a Time
By now, you’ve heard the news and seen the images of 4500 Silverado Trail — the iconic Signorello Winery that was engulfed in flames during the recent wildfires. But you may also have heard that Ray Signorello Jr. has vowed to rebuild, and is developing his vision for the next generation Signorello Estate Winery. The silver lining? Most of their wines were off-site, and the barrel room sustained no damage. Miraculously, all 42 acres of their estate vineyards also survived. When Wine Access asked Ray how we could help, it would be through one simple gesture: “Help sell our wine!” he told us. If helping sell Ray’s wine is how we can help, we count ourselves lucky because of the strength of our incredible Wine Access clients. Ray has offered an allocation of his 2013 Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon — which given its pedigree and quality, would easily fetch $125 from any other winery. Antonio Galloni said it has “no shortage of depth or intensity,” and pinned on a 92-point score. But Ray’s quest to produce a stunning under-$50 Napa Cabernet means this one is only $45 per bottle.
Fuse is sourced from three vineyards — one being Signorello’s Estate site just south of the Stags Leap line. Perhaps no one is more impressed by Ray’s far-reaching strengths than Robert Parker who has said: "Ray Signorello and his winemaking team have quietly, and somewhat under the radar, put together quite a portfolio of high-quality wines, primarily from their vineyards in the very southern end of Napa Valley in what would be considered south of Yountville and in the slightly elevated foothills of the Vaca Mountains."
As we’ve often reported, the 2013 vintage in Napa is one for the record books — a benchmark year that’ll be talked about for the next century. Parker gushed over the “mind-boggling,” “epic and awesome” wines he’d tasted, declaring 2013 to be the “greatest vintage in 37 years.” Count Ray’s 2013 Fuse among the best of what the critics are describing.
