A Wine for Michelin and McLaren

A Wine for Michelin and McLaren

To secure the exclusive wines of Sonoma Coast’s La Pitchoune you can dine at the anticipated 3 Michelin-Starred restaurant Single Thread, buy a $265,000 McLaren 650S or click buy now.  In August, we landed a reservation at Single Thread Farms in Healdsburg. While the 11-course epicurean feast was one of the most memorable in recent years, one Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir paired with our Black Cod and Scallop Stuffed Squash Blossoms — stole the show. The 2013 La Pitchoune by Tracy and Peter Nielsen was voluptuous and balanced with exquisite tension and purity. Wine Enthusiast called it “an expression of elegance and balance” in its 93-point review. Robert Parker calls it “beautifully textured” and “long.” If you purchase one of McLaren’s supercars from their San Francisco area dealership, you will be presented with two coveted bottles of La Pitchoune.  However if you want to take life a little slower and simply savor one of Sonoma’s finest Pinot’s, you can today at just $48. Of the miniscule 385 cases made, the winery’s last 20 cases are up for grabs exclusively on Wine Access. You make the call.

Tracy Nielsen had dreamed about running a small production winery, just like the ones she fell in love with in the South of France. One problem: Every time the Colorado native tried to break into California’s wine game, she got rejected. Yet she didn’t just persist — in 2011, she took matters into her own hands, launching La Pitchoune with her husband, “serial entrepreneur” Peter Joachim Nielsen.

La Pitchoune’s name reflects Tracy’s vision; it translates to “the little one.” Her dream of keeping size and production small has since led to large endorsement deals, such as a partnership with KPAX Racing. It’s also led to a reputation for producing wines that capture the essence of Sonoma terroir in its purest form.

The 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir highlights this brilliantly through its lush, voluptuous body and succulent complexity. It’s a fantastic wine to enjoy on a night out — or even a night in.
