A+ Vineyard, Viticulturist, Winemaker, and Vintage
A historic, highly coveted Beckstoffer vineyard in Oakville. A Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year who's made cult wines for Grace Family and Bryant. A stellar vintage. Eight years of aging.
If you think this sounds a lot like a recipe for a $150–$300 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, you’d be right. In fact, Beckstoffer requires a winery charge at least $125 in order to put the name of one of his Heritage Vineyards on a label!
But not the 2014 BOYANCI Wines Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 2014, a year that yielded what Wine Spectator called “a beautiful vintage,” Helen Keplinger sculpted flawless fruit—100% of it from Andy Beckstoffer’s Missouri Hopper Vineyard—into this concentrated, powerful bottling.
The Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard is one of the finest sites in Oakville. Abutting both Christian Moueix’s Ulysses and Vine Hill Ranch, the site—which was first planted prior to 1877—is “one of the most historic vineyards in the Napa Valley,” in the words of Antonio Galloni of Vinous.
As one of the few California winemakers who has graced the cover of Wine Spectator, Helen Keplinger’s credentials are impeccable. After working alongside Cabernet luminaries Heidi Peterson Barrett, David Abreu, and Michel Rolland, she now focuses on the lauded lineup of California reds she makes for BOYANCI.
“BOYANCI” is a combination of the last names of founders Kevin Boyer and the husband-and-wife team of Tom and Roma Steffanci, and it also refers to their nonprofit, which aims to “uplifts lives and buoys the spirits” of those in need.
This is a bottling for savvy Napa Valley enthusiasts and collectors who know exactly what kind of grace and gravitas comes from this combination of vineyard, viticulturist, winemaker, and vintage.
