A Wine Access Client Favorite Returns in New Vintage
The 2014 Titus Vineyard Andronicus Proprietary Red is one of the most anticipated labels we’re offering this year. Just last week Wine Access clients snapped up our entire allocation in hours. Thanks to Chappellet mastermind Phillip Titus for offering up another 75 cases of his own 2013 vintage of Andronicus. Clients have raved about previous vintages. Like Michael S. from California who called Andronicus: “Excellent! Lots of luscious fruit yet silky smooth. Preferred to three more expensive bottles by my friends and I at a recent tasting. Great value.” John B. from Texas found it simply “Delicious. Powerful. Unexpectedly good wine for the price.” The collective praise goes on and on, in all of this wine’s incredible 45 perfect 5 star ratings. This 2014 Andronicus is even better. Factor in the 2013’s praise with a 2014 vintage upgrade for Napa — Wine Spectator called 2014 a “dream vintage,” and Robert Parker said it was “another superlative year.” Now toss in Titus’ own feeling that 2014 is a “better long-distance” runner, and it’s clear this won’t last long. Just $25 per bottle before this allocation disappears as well.
Tall, thoughtful, self-effacing, and calm, Phil Titus splits his time between his family’s eponymous winery and Chappellet on Pritchard Hill, where he’s become famous for crafting luscious 97-pointers. His bloodline is also tied to St. Helena folklore. Back in the 1970s, few Napa growers understood what grapes were best suited for the “up-valley” area. Phil’s dad Lee Titus dramatically altered this by purchasing land on its eastern side and planted Bordeaux varieties in the rocky, volcanic soils. It was a bold decision — but as the 2014 Andronicus demonstrates, it’s one that’s still paying massive dividends.
We’ve known Phil for 25 years — long enough to know his opinions on vintages are spot-on. That’s why we didn’t blink an eye when he told us the 2014s were “better long-distance runners.” After tasting it, we were convinced. It won’t be long before the next round of Wine Access clients send us their rave reviews of this dynamite Napa red. Will you be one of them?
