Signature St. Helena Cabernet

Signature St. Helena Cabernet

Todd’s 2015 Anderson Conn Valley Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is the latest iteration of a Wine Access Cabernet favorite: It is an opaque, chewy, and boisterous Napa blockbuster that is aged in French oak for 22 months, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and shows tons of dark fruit, baking spice, and rich tannins.

Todd hobnobs with loyal buyers all over the country, and he could sell his wines on personality alone—if the critics weren’t already doing it for him: Wine Enthusiast gave this bottling a 94, and Jeb Dunnuck crowned it with 94+ points, praising the wine’s “terrific perfume,” “great mid-palate,” and “big finish.” It will be at its best in a few years, but can certainly do a long stretch in the cellar.

The grapes behind Anderson Conn Valley Reserve are planted high above St. Helena, where Conn Creek flows off Howell Mountain, and the Estate Reserve is their flagship bottling. The 94+ points it received from Jeb Dunnuck put it on par with 2015 Napa Cabernets from Hourglass, Larkmead, Kata, and a batch of other big Napa names that command $175 and more per bottle.

This Napa Cabernet is “smokin’ good,” according to Dunnuck, and shows off the hallmarks of quality that would make it right at home in a blind tasting of wines that fetch two and three times the price. Given the name recognition and yet another dream vintage in Napa, we predict another rush by Wine Access Cabernet lovers to claim our allocation of Anderson Conn Valley. Don’t be left out.
