Château d’Armailhac Returns
In 1934, when Baron Philippe Rothschild bought the property that is now called Château d’Armailhac, it was one of the most important purchases he had ever made. A gem of northern Pauillac, the estate lies minutes away from Mouton, and some of the Fifth Growth’s impressive property features strikingly similar terroir to the legendary First Growth itself.
The rest of T-shaped vineyard boasts some of the oldest vines in Bordeaux—up to 130 years old—and soils that produce a softer wine, which makes d’Armailhac a perfect way to explore this privileged corner of Pauillac without decades of cellaring. 2015 is, of course, a vintage that is already heralded as a modern classic, and in it, Château d’Armailhac performed splendidly.
Vinified with the modern techniques we expect out of anything associated with Mouton, this is a must own Pauillac for any lover of Mouton who wants a bottle to indulge in a little sooner.
