    Domaine Michel Goubard, now run by Michel’s sons Pierre-François and Vincent, is a picture of consistency: Growing wine in Saint-Désert in the central Côte Chalonnaise since the 17th century, Goubard has been noted by Robert Parker as “one of the first well-made value selections from the Côte Chalonnaise.” From vintage to vintage, wines like Goubard are known as good values. In exceptional years, they’re known as steals.

    Burgundy’s 2015 vintage is widely being hailed as exceptional. Jancis Robinson refers to those “whispering comparisons to the outstanding 2005 vintage.” Fortunately for collectors,  what’s good for the Grand Crus — whose prices are especially exorbitant in such a low-yielding year — is good for all of the region.
