The 2015 Panther Creek Red Stripe is a Wine Access exclusive that you can’t even buy at the winery—it’s destined for the Panther Creek wine club only, but hasn’t even been made available to them yet.
Presenting a subdued ruby-garnet color, the ‘15 Red Stripe bursts with raspberries and floral aromas, complemented by cherry, agave nectar, mace, and freshly tilled soil. Firm and concentrated on the palate with a ripe core of cherry fruit, it’s accented with earth and wild herb flavors, all bound by tense tannins. A fantastic exclusive from a top Willamette Valley vintage!
Panther Creek Cellars boasts a pedigree that few Willamette Wineries can match. It was founded in 1986 by Ken Wright, the Oregon legend who pioneered single-vineyard bottlings and whose name now stands as one of the most famous in Willamette Valley. When new owners took the reins in 2013, they knew where the bar had been set: That’s why their first call was to Tony Rynders, the man who had guided Domaine Serene, perhaps Oregon’s best-known winery, to the top. Rynders was the head of winemaking at Domaine Serene for ten years, and was responsible for the winery’s smashing success: During his tenure, he racked up more 90+-point scores from Wine Spectator than any other winemaker—not just in Oregon, not just in the U.S., but in the world.
The Red Stripe, a club-only bottling that can’t even be submitted for scores because of its exclusivity, consists largely of fruit from the sources of Panther Creek’s vineyard-designate wines, top sites like Schindler, Jean Ray, and Kalita. We’re thrilled to be the only ones outside the Panther Creek wine club to get our hands on this beautiful Willamette Valley Pinot, and can’t wait for you to add it to your cellar.
