A Rare, Classed-Growth Value Bordeaux
A Rare, Classed-Growth Value Bordeaux
Fifth Growth Château d’Armailhac, located just south of the Mouton Rothschild estate, has garnered generous accolades from the world’s most prominent Bordeaux critic: Parker believes it could be upgraded to Fourth Growth, and that it possesses two magical qualities: great value and accessibility. Translated, that means tons of pleasure for a reasonable price.
Parker has even gone so far as to call d’Armailhac “a wine (that) shrewd buyers should seek, especially in good vintages,” which leads us to conclude that—in stupendous, historic vintages like 98-point 2016—procuring d’Armailhac is a slam dunk. Deep and dark and showing purple tints, the d’Armailhac shouldn’t take long to mature. We recommend opening your first around 2025, if you can wait that long, and watching your other bottles mature from there.
