Last Chance Ever Clos du Val Rare White Blend
Here’s an incredible 60% off white wine from one of Napa Valley’s most respected wineries!
The 2016 Clos du Val Proprietary White Wine Napa Valley fits right into California’s current white wine renaissance: Top winemakers are departing from varietal standbys like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and producing off-the-beaten-path blends: Think of Steve Matthiasson’s wildly popular eponymous white and Dan Petroski’s stellar Massican.
Clos du Val’s rare blend of Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay offers a refreshing change of pace from textbook, barrel-fermented Chardonnays. Bursting with aromas of ripe apricot and fresh lime, both zesty and lingering on the finish, this oak-free gem is one of the most versatile food wines we can imagine: It dares to go where most white wines fear to tread, working wonders with generously salted fish, poultry, and pork dishes. From Mexican to Thai, or on its own as an aperitif, this wine fits the bill, at a by-the-case price. $17.99 on 7 or more bottles. Shipping included on 6.
Clos du Val’s impressive history is well known: Bernard Portet and John Goelet purchased the 150-acre property in 1972, establishing one of the pioneering wineries in Napa’s “valley within a valley,” the three-mile-by-one-mile Stags Leap District. Four years later, Clos du Val was one of just six wineries selected to take on the Bordeaux Grands Crus at the earth-moving Judgment of Paris tasting, an honor that cemented the winery’s status as a Napa Valley icon.
But Clos du Val is the rare winery that, despite their rock-solid foundation, doesn’t mind shaking things up, and a big decision recently came out of their ivy-covered château: Starting with the 2017 vintage, Clos du Val’s production will be 100 percent estate wines. This courageous move not only involves cutting production in half but narrowing their range to the varieties that grow on their 217.5 acres in the Stags Leap District and Yountville. Since the only white varieties planted at the estate are Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, this 2016 vintage will be the last iteration of this Proprietary White.
Don’t miss out on a chance to secure the last edition of an iconic winery’s unique wine at an incredible 60% off. This Proprietary White is fun and lively, showing tons of stone fruit, lively citrus and honeyed notes, and a mouthwatering finish. It’s is perfect as a standalone sipper, and a formidable match for just about any fish, pork, or poultry dish that makes it onto your menu.
