Packed with layers of ripe fruit, spice and earth
The Jessie Vineyard, named after Paul’s paternal grandmother Jessie Summers, is a steep and wooded hillside plot that has produced exquisite Pinot Noir for two decades. The vineyard boasts stunning views of Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood, and Mt. Adams, and with 230 feet of elevation variation (over less than 12 acres), is one of the steepest in the Willamette Valley—not to mention Cristom’s most challenging to farm. Jessie fruit is known for its deep floral aromas, minerality, and a distinctive savoriness that recalls rare filet mignon.
In their 95+-point review, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate calls the 2016 Jessie “wonderfully silky in the mouth,” and “packed with layers of ripe fruit, spice and earth.” We love its mélange of black raspberries, rose oil and anise, and the bright mineral energy is brings to the palate. Fantastic now, this will become seamlessly integrated with time in the cellar, and will cruise for a decade.
