BV to Beckstoffer, Legend to Legend
Historical records show that a portion of Rutherford’s Georges III Vineyard was planted by Mrs. Thomas Rutherford herself in 1895. Called Beaulieu Vineyard Number 3 after being purchased by BV founder Georges de Latour in 1928, this was the source of the renowned Cabernets, made by legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff, that established BV as the standard-bearer of Napa Valley.
Beckstoffer purchased the vineyard in 1988, and the 2016 Krutz Family Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer George III Vineyard comes from a tiny 1.9-acre parcel. It showcases the flawless 2016 vintage in a 97-point Cabernet that Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate calls “full-bodied and decadently fruited, with a wonderfully plush texture.” Made in a tiny batch of not even ten barrels.
