Trimbach, which started making wine in 1626, is inarguably one of the world’s standard bearers, and their very special 2016 Riesling 390eme Anniversaire Ribeauville doesn’t just celebrate that legacy—it proves it. 

This gorgeous Riesling—sourced from Trimbach’s finest parcels, including coveted Grand Cru sites—is as rare and special as they come. It’s generous and complete, with explosive floral notes, Meyer lemon, spice, and herbs leaping from the glass, followed by a palate of beeswax, citron, and a limestone minerality that eases into a long, satisfying finish. 

Extremely limited in production, only two other vintages of Trimbach anniversary Rieslings have been made. Grown in a season in which its vineyard sites produced outstanding fruit, the 2016 is a fitting valentine to the winegrowers and workers who have helped Trimbach become—and remain—an Alsatian icon.

Twelfth-generation winegrower Pierre Trimbach is exceptionally picky about what goes into his winery’s prestige bottlings, and for this limited anniversary edition he reserved the very best Riesling from the very best sites. Since Trimbach is one of the largest vineyard owners in the region, he had an extensive menu from which to choose. Famed Grand-Cru sites Osterberg and Schoenenbourg made the cut, along with old-vine fruit from Ribeauvillé’s steep hillside vineyards.

The result is a wine of intensity, pure minerality, and crystal-clear fruit. Vinous awarded it 94 points, calling it a "fresh, deep, suave Riesling."
