Homegrown Cabernet Perfection
The greatest winegrowing sites in the world have distinguished themselves over the long term, and that’s how founder H. William Harlan and winemaker Bob Levy conceived BOND: Working together for over 40 years, they’d noticed that of the 80 vineyards they’d sourced from, several stood out as producing exceptional grapes, year after year. BOND was born, with the philosophy of creating uncompromising wines from these diverse Napa Valley “Grand Cru” sites.
Harlan and Levy set about securing their sites, looking to the long term, and in 1999 the first BOND wines were produced from the duo’s iconic home vineyard, Vecina. From the site directly southeast of the BOND winery (Vecina means neighbor) in the western Oakville foothills, the 2017 is “outrageously beautiful” according to Vinous, and we couldn’t agree more.
With sultry aromas of black cherry, wild blueberry, maraschino, rose petal, loam, wild herbs, and pencil lead, and a palate of black currant, blueberry, spice box, and graphite flavors carried on an impressively stout structure, this is powerful, yet appealing out of the gate.
There’s no act more generous than bringing out a bottle of BOND for family and friends, and we’re proud to be the ones to bring it to your cellar. Whether you do it the day it arrives, in 50 years, or sometime in between, we can’t wait for you to experience this one-of-a-kind Napa Valley wine.
