Robert Parker never hid his admiration for Oakville. 

“Tasting that corridor,” he wrote, “going from the east-side hills, where you have some great wineries, right through the valley floor and up to the Mayacamas Mountains, where Harlan is, I really see that as the tenderloin of Napa Valley. The wines there just have an extra dimension, an extra complexity and a degree of richness.” 

Nowadays that extra dimension comes with an astronomical price tag. Of the 47 members of the Oakville Winegrowers Association, we counted EIGHT that offer an Oakville Cabernet under $100. Under $50? Almost none. 

That’s what makes the 2017 Sola Provus Oakville Cabernet such an insane rarity: Supple and concentrated, with heady aromas of ripe blackberries, chocolate-covered cherries, cracked graphite, cinnamon, cloves, and violets—people simply don’t sell Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon for our price. It’s nearly unheard of. 

We wish we could tell you which producer in Oakville made today’s wine, but their identity is locked away in an ironclad NDA—even our lawyers were impressed with the level of secrecy. Because we can’t drop names, the only proof of this wine’s quality is in the bottle—and it passed our discerning tasting panel with flying colors.
