This Cab Had Us Reaching for Vice Over Virtue

The team behind The House Cabernet Sauvignon would like to fly under the radar, but much like the show-stopping, dense Mountain Cabernet they bottled, it’s impossible to hide their accolades and just how rare it is to find a wine like this for under $30.

This dynamite Cab is rich and powerful from the get-go, with beautifully muscular aromas of black fruits, as well as notes of crushed violets and dried roses. On the palate, its dark core of black fruit is wrapped in layers of baking spice, dark cocoa, espresso, and fine French oak. If those sound like descriptors that normally accompany $100 tasting notes, that’s because they are. The Vice’s The House Cabernet Sauvignon over-delivers sip after sip, and Wine Access is the only place you’ll find it.

And we aren’t the only ones in love with The Vice—we’ve read rave reviews from Forbes, USA Today, Jetsetter, and more about The Vice wines. We discovered it for ourselves at a bistro in Napa, and where it revealed gorgeous notes of plum, cherry, and fresh florals alongside  warm baking spices. Alongside a steak, burger, or classic fall fare like coq au vin or cassoulet, it sings.

Winemaker Vance Rose’s résumé includes stints with iconic estates including Rosemount in Australia, Donum in Carneros, Ehlers in St. Helena, and Grieve Family Winery and Double Eagle in the Napa Valley. When Rose coupled that expertise with an organic vineyard atop Mt. Veeder, The Vice did something simple: They stacked the deck in their favor, and it’s paying off now at far below the $150 cost of entry top Napa Cabernets command… and will continue to do so well into the future, based on the firm tannins and elegant structure of this newly-released red.

It’s simple really: The House is the rare value bottle that combines impressive Mt. Veeder fruit, a notable winemaker, and truly unbelievable $25 price tag in a wholly exclusive offer. We recommend keeping your corkscrew by the door for the day this arrives.
