Exquisite, Exclusive Premier Cru Burgundy
Top Côte d’Or wines are made in tiny amounts, and many of them get picked off before they even leave Europe—which is why we’re so thrilled to have the 2018 Domaine Pierre Amiot et Fils Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots Premier Cru.
From 1.3 acres of 55-year-old vines just below the Grand Cru Monopole Clos de Tart and bordering Chambolle-Musigny, the Amiots’ Ruchots bottling shows a pale ruby color and exuberant aromas of black raspberry, red cherries, rose petals, violets, sandalwood, and wild herbs. Silken and round with polished tannins and a depth of red fruit, it’s a precise wine that balances lilting aromatics with a dense core.
Grown in the outstanding 2018 vintage and drawn from some of the most precious climats in Morey-Saint-Denis, this bottle displays just how handsomely the dividends pay when meticulous farming and cellar finesse meets a sunny vintage like 2018.
That year, early spring rains had buds busting out like Jiffy Pop. But as Mother Nature started cranking up the heat, she started turning down the tap: The summer was hot and dry, with just enough rain to slake the vines, leading to an early harvest of beautifully concentrated grapes. By the time the wines were in barrel, critics were musing about whether 2018 might rival the stellar 1947.
This is a gorgeous that lives up to the expectation set by the stellar vintage. We’re thrilled to bring it to you.
